What is the Road Less Travelled?
It comes from the poem from Robert Frost “The Road Not Taken” and is a metaphor for taking a path in life that is unconventional and somewhat risky.
___________
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
– Robert Frost
What does is mean to me personally?
I admit that this is nothing new to me. I have taken the road less travelled for most of my life. Yet this time feels different because I had found stability: a senior position in an international company, financial independence and a comfortable lifestyle. In addition, I am a lot older than I was the last time that I did something like this. I’ve taken little risks over the years but it’s been at least 25 years since I dropped everything and started something completely new.
Why am I writing this blog?
When I was a teenager I already learned that writing about my feelings and experiences was the only way to find clarity and direction when I got lost or confused. This time, I have decided to write it not only for myself, but also for anyone else who might be in a similar position. We often find strength in numbers and I would be proud to have even a small part in helping another person find a new, happier direction in life.
